Weeks of dry January weather have allowed the city of Waldport and the Lincoln County School District to get ahead on projects at Louis Southworth Park and Crestview Heights School.
City crews and contractors are creating a quarter-mile walking track around the softball and soccer fields at Southworth Park. The dry weather allowed crews to carve out the base and replace it with rock and gravel. Road & Driveway of Newport will be paving it soon with asphalt, said city manager Dann Cutter.
“We have heard from many people that there is no nice, level place to walk in town,” Cutter said. “This will help solve that problem.”

At Crestview Heights, the school district is using money from the voter-approved bond last year to replace a grass field on the east side of the school with a synthetic turf surface allowing students and the community to use it for outdoor place for much more of the year. The field should be ready in early April, said district facilities director Rich Belloni.
The district is also replacing the old swing set at Crestview with new swings and rubber pads under them instead of wood chips.

I’d like to know when the pickleball courts will be finished. I truly think they’ll get a lot of use.
Dann Cutter is amazing! I have lived here for 10 years but have been coming to Waldport since early 1990’s. My mother lives in Bayshore. Almost all positive changes in this small town have been overseen by him. I am very happy with Dann.
