NEWPORT – Danny Hicks, 59, of Dallas, Ore. was sentenced to 12½ years in prison by Lincoln County Circuit senior judge Thomas Branford last week after a jury found him guilty of 11 counts of child-related felony sex crimes.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and Lincoln City police arrested Hicks last November after he five times responded to undercover officers using social media to pose as five different underage children. Hicks repeatedly expressed his desire to meet up and engage in sexual conduct with individuals he believed were children under the age of 16, according to a news release from Lincoln County district attorney Jenna Wallace.
Hicks was convicted in 2021 in Lane County of online sexual corruption and luring a minor and was placed on three years of supervised probation. Hicks’ probation ended in last July and he began chatting with the Lincoln County undercover officers two months later, according to the news release.
A jury found Hicks guilty May 16 after a three-day trial.
