Kenneth M. Hackney

Kenneth Michael Hackney of Waldport was born Aug. 9, 1950, in Scotia, Calif. and passed away peacefully of medical complications on Feb. 24, 2025, in Waldport. He was 74.

Born to Kenneth and Bonnie Hackney, Mike grew up in Bakersfield, Calif. He attended East High School and then went on to a Christian college to study the ministry, had a congregation in Washington state and helped churches as a substitute minister. He later worked as a mason and cement truck driver.
Mike married Brenda Simmons, the love of his life, on July 31, 1970, and they went on to have six children, three of whom were adopted.
Mike and Brenda were RV camp hosts around the country from 2006-2018, when they moved to Waldport.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mike is survived by a brother Robert Hackney of New Jersey, a sister, Vicki Lohr of Bakersfield; his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Nicki Hackney of Burns, Ore.; his daughter, Kendra Hackney of Portland; daughter-in-law Stephanie Hackney of Missoula, Mont.; five grandsons, Robert Geiser, Jared Hackney, Zachary Hackney, Cecil Hackney, Mikeal Hackney, and two great grandchildren, Carter and Jaxson Geiser.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, two sons, Jeremy and Kyle Hackney, and a daughter, Leah Smith.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his loved ones. He was a great man and will surely be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Yachats Baptist Church in Yachats at 11 a.m. March 10, 2025.
