Closure dates for the Rite Aid stores and pharmacies in Newport and Lincoln City are now set.
The Rite Aid store and pharmacy in Lincoln City is closing Thursday, May 29 and sending its prescriptions to Safeway unless customers tell them otherwise.
The Rite Aid pharmacy in Newport is closing June 9 and sending its prescriptions to Fred Meyer. The store is expected to close 2-3 weeks after that.
Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy May 5 for the second time in less than two years and said it would begin the process of closing or selling its remaining 1,240 stores over the next few months
The company has 48 stores across Oregon. A store in Florence was closed in the first wave of cuts last year.
The company’s second bankruptcy and general store closures were announced by Rite Aid in early May, but definitive closing dates only in the past week.
Court documents last week included another 95 locations across seven states. In Oregon, in addition to the Newport and Lincoln City stories, the stores on the latest closure list were in Salem, Roseburg, Oregon City, Harbor, The Dalles, Northeast Portland, Klamath Falls, Bend, Ontario, Hood River, Dallas, Baker City, Bandon, Seaside and Silverton.
