Yachats resident asks other Verizon customers to contact customer service

To the editor:

I have been having ongoing problems with poor cell phone coverage even though I have been using a Verizon network extender which works most of the time. Unfortunately, I have sometimes had no coverage for days at a time necessitating installing a landline for emergencies.

When I called the city of Yachats, I was told that five years ago Verizon officials visited our area and stated that they would not be installing a tower. I called Verizon last week and spoke to someone there who told me the technology is much improved since then, and that they may be able to use “small cells” around strategic areas to improve coverage. I was told to write to: Executive Relation Team, Verizon Wireless, P.O. Box 408, Newark, N.J. 07101-0408.

It is important to include a contact number so they can call you about the issue.

I am passing this along so that anyone with Verizon cellular who is also experiencing poor coverage can contact this department to let them know how this is affecting you. Perhaps if enough of us do this, they may finally do something about this.

Here’s hoping!

  1. We are in Waldport at the edge of the city limits and like you, are Verizon phone would go days without service. Now we connect to our internet, which solves the home problems but does nothing for the away from home. Have occasional no service from Patterson to South Beach and occasionally no service in Newport. We thought it was our phones because we had no problems with the service until we upgraded the phones to 5 g. We have complained to the powers above and were assured they were taking care of it. Have seen no improvement.

    • Thanks for the information Darlene. I have been sticking to 4G because it seems to work in all the out in the boonies places I drive. I often have had better reception right in Waldport and thought you guys had a Verizon cell tower over there.

  2. TracFone Verizon didn’t work on Wakonda in the house, so I changed to a TracFone that uses Tmobile. It works in Yachats at medium bars.
