Yachats manager part of team winning “travelability” tourism award

YACHATS – Yachats city manager Bobbi Price is a member of the Oregon Coast Travelability team that received the 2025 Governor’s Award at the Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism this month.

The award recognized a cross-sector collaboration to make travel on the coast accessible and inclusive for individuals with disabilities and their families.

The group helped secure more than $1.3 million in Travel Oregon grants for accessibility projects along the coast. The grants helped the online travel platform Wheel the World verify accessibility for disabled travelers, provided tidepool touch tanks at the Oregon Coast Aquarium and an inclusive playground in Lincoln City.

“This work started from a deeply personal place, sharing my own experience as a mother to a child with cerebral palsy,” Price said. “Talking about the barriers my family faces when simply trying to choose a restaurant or an activity has blossomed into a movement that has engaged so many others with lived experience.”

The city of Yachats participated in the accessibility effort by having the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce complete the Wheel the World audit, provide the Not-a-Wheelchair at its visitor center, and now the operation of an ADA-accessible trolley.
