The Yachats Library now has co-librarians to replace its longtime head librarian and children’s librarian.
The Yachats Library Commission last week appointed Rose Valentine and Diane Allen as co-head librarians to replace Janet Hickam, who has stepped down after 11 years in the volunteer position. Allen is also a member of the commission.
The commission also appointed Jane and Michael Shay as co-children’s librarians, replacing Janet Rackleff, who had volunteered in that position for eight years.
The Yachats Library is an independent library operated by volunteers, owned by the city of Yachats and overseen by the Library Commission. It is open four to six hours, six days a week and offers a children’s program each Wednesday afternoon.
