YACHATS — The city’s popular Sunday Farmers Market returns on Mother’s Day this Sunday with a record number of vendors — 45 — and some new food options.
The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through October at its traditional location on West Fourth Street just off U.S. Highway 101. The market will offer produce, plants, meats, smoked cheeses and mushrooms, along with pottery, jewelry, glass and metal art, handmade soaps and more.
“This is the most vendors we’ve ever had,” said Blythe Collins, who owns Bread & Roses Bakery and is in charge of the market.
Collins said there will be more food this year, including crepes to-go, kettle corn, and fresh Mexican food. A crab fisherman is also scheduled to be among the vendors.
Well-behaved dogs are allowed – but “no biting, no fighting,” Collins said.
In addition to the vendors selling goods, there are some no-charge spaces set aside for groups that dispense community-benefit information, such as emergency preparedness. Collins advised that those interested in securing such a space come to the market and speak with manager Ron Vil.
The Yachats market is the last to open on the central coast.
The Waldport Wednesday Market launched its 2023 season May 3. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday through the fall in the parking lot of the Waldport Community Center.
The Newport Farmers Market is open on Saturdays through December. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Angle Street and Highway 101.
