YACHATS – The Yachats city council will hold its final public hearing about amendments to its vacation rental policy at its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Some community members and vacation rental advocates had expressed frustration at the first public hearing in October that vacation rental licenses cannot be passed on when homes are sold or passed on to family members.
The city, which inspects vacation rentals and collect a 9 percent transient rental tax, considers the licenses an asset of the city.
Council and city staff will discuss the background of the licenses as well clarifications and key changes in the rental code amendment. There will also be a public comment period.
Some of the key topics include: Clarifying that only a person who is on the property’s deed can hold a license; that licenses are non-transferable; clarifying owner inspection responsibilities and a timeline increase for owners to address any inspection issues; revoking licenses if no taxes are collected within two years; vacation rental water rates; and waitlist requirements.
The meeting is at 1 p.m. in the Civic meeting room the Yachats Commons.
