NEWPORT – Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore. has scheduled a town hall for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Newport Performing Arts Center.
The town hall for statements from the senator and questions from the audience is in keeping with a promise to hold at least one town hall each year in each of Oregon’s 36 counties. So far, Wyden has held 1,134 open-to-all town halls since being elected in 1996.
Wyden, 76, has already filed to seek re-election to another six-year term in 2028.
Wyden’s office said Thursday that for security reasons, backpacks and large bags will not be allowed in the town hall.
Usually calm, Wyden’s town halls have become a little more contentious. Recently in Philomath and previously in Medford, the senator was challenged on his support for Israel, including a vote against legislation that sought to block U.S. weapons sales to Israel.
He should run for the state he actually represents: New York.
I’m old enough to remember when James Clapper lied to his face and he didn’t do anything about it.
Now he supports endless foreign wars and genocide.
