William (Bill) L. Turkaly, Waldport
Oct. 31, 1965 – July 5, 2025
William Lee Turkaly of Waldport, passed away July 5, 2025, following a sudden and brutal illness. He was 59.
His wife, Cheri Brubaker, and his son, Jake, were by his side. They will always love him and will miss him forever.
Bill was born Oct. 31, 1965, in Washington, Penn., to Slavko and Dorothy (Darke) Turkaly. He grew up in Burgettstown, Penn., outside of Pittsburgh.
Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was gratified by his work on the Siuslaw National Forest in support of the U.S. Forest Service’s mission of caring for the land and serving the people.
With a sharp wit and a wicked sense of humor, Bill was strong, capable, good, solid and honorable. He enjoyed walking on the beach, hiking in the forest and watching the sun set from the deck. Bill loved his family.
There will be a celebration of life from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Canal Creek group campground site in Tidewater.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Bill can do so by making a donation to an independent news source. Two of his favorites were Lincoln Chronicle (formerly YachatsNews) and Oregon Public Broadcasting.
