WALDPORT – After moving its Beach Bike & Blues festival from May to September this year, the Waldport Chamber of Commerce has again tweaked the event’s date by a week.
Three years of chilly Spring rain led the Waldport Area Chamber of Commerce to announce in January it was moving its Beach, Bike & Blues festival from May to Sept. 20. Last week the chamber announced it had again re-scheduled the one-day event to Saturday, Sept. 13 so the festival does not conflict with the annual Hands Across the Bridge event on Sept. 20.
Three years ago, the chamber linked up with Mudslinger Events’ two-day bicycle competitions to offer a Saturday of food, music and beer at the Alsea Bay Bridge Visitor Center and Museum. But heavy rain two of the three events convinced the organization that moving to September “offers more promising, warmer weather,” according to the chamber’s announcement.
Mudslinger’s Oregon Coast Gravel Epic is still scheduled for Waldport on Saturday, May 3 and its West Coast Gravel Epic in Yachats on Sunday, May 4.
The chamber’s announcement said it is partnering with the Green Bike Co-op to stage a children’s bike rodeo, create an obstacle course, offer pedi-cab rides and conduct a silent auction.
