YACHATS – Prepare and watch out for lots of long-distance runners hitting the trails around Yachats and Cape Perpetua this weekend.
Hundreds of runners are in Yachats Saturday and Sunday participating in the third and final race in the Oregon Coast trail series sponsored by Daybreak Racing of Hillsboro, which has organized the event since 2022. From 2014-21 the event was organized by Rainshadow Running.
Headquarters and start and finish lines for the event and races is at The Adobe resort.
The event features three races:
- A 50 kilometer (31 mile) race that begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at The Adobe, covers a portion along the beach, through town and trails over Cape Perpetua and finishes no later than 5 p.m.;
- A 20-mile race that begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at The Adobe and covers Cape Perpetua trails and finishes no later than 2 p.m.; and
- A half marathon (13.1 miles) that starts at 9:30 a.m. from the Cape Perpetua campground and finishes at The Adobe no later than 2 p.m.
