The Oregon Department of Aviation has completed a $2.2 million runway rehabilitation at Siletz Bay State Airport in Gleneden Beach.
The project was funded with nearly $2 million from the Federal Aviation Administration and just over $200,000 through aircraft registration fees collected by the state.
The Siletz Bay airport serves general aviation, flight training and provides air access for recreational and business aviation along the central coast.
The project included resurfacing the aging north two-thirds of the runway and repairing low pavement sections on the south end, as well as replacing the airport’s nearly 40-year-old airfield electrical system, according to a news release from the state Department of Aviation. The upgrades were intended to improve runway safety, visibility, and long-term durability.
“Updating the runway and electrical systems at Siletz Bay ensures that the airport remains a safe and reliable facility for years to come,” Oregon Department of Aviation director Kenji Sugahara said in the release. “We appreciate the community’s patience and support during construction.”
