Siletz tribal fund donates $475,876 to 44 groups for second quarter of 2022

The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund has distributed $475,876 to 44 organizations as it continues its quarterly donations to nonprofit groups.

The Siletz Tribe’s seven-member charitable fund advisory board has distributed more than $16.1 million since its inception in 2001 as part of its Chinook Winds casino operating agreement with the state. Chinook Winds has donated more than $6.5 million in cash and fund-raising items since it opened in 1995.

Charitable donations were made to organizations in the tribe’s 11-county service area that covers Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, and Native American entities and activities located anywhere in the United States.

In Lincoln County and Alsea, the tribe gave:

• Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Toledo: youth summer camp kits, $8,625;
• Oregon Coast Children’s Theatre, Toledo: supplies and materials for community outreach events and workshops, plus supplies for the Arts in Education program, $5,000;
• Yaquina River Museum of Art, Toledo: advertising for Toledo Labor Day Art Walk, $1,500;
• Siletz Valley Friends of the Library, Siletz: updated story time materials, $1,399;
• Siletz Valley School, Siletz: hiring three teachers, school-based mental health services, middle school/high school technology teacher, maintenance staff, sports coaches, summer school, and building and operational costs, $292,000`
• Innovative Concepts for Families of Lincoln County, Newport: Medical Teams International dental van fees for uninsured Lincoln County residents, $7,500;
• Lincoln County Joint Transportation, Lincoln City: 125 booklets of 40 bus tickets each to issue to low-income and disadvantaged residents of Lincoln County to help them get to medical appointments, $5,000;
• North Lincoln Hospital Foundation, Lincoln City: plants and trail gravel for Healing Grounds areas around Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital to provide outdoor respite, physical activity and relaxation areas for patients, caregivers and health care workers; $5,000;
• Panther Creek Senior and Community Center, Otis: construct storage room to accommodate refrigerators, freezers, shelving and cupboards, $6,900;
• RSVP of Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties, Albany: durable medical equipment for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities; $2,000
• The Corvallis Clinic Foundation, Corvallis: 120 gas and grocery gift cards for low-income cancer patients in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties; $6,000;
• Alsea Community Effort, Alsea: printing and postage covering 50 percent of cost to publish and distribute six issues of bi-monthly community newspaper, the Alsea Valley Voice; $1,394;
• Lincoln City Senior Center: food and supplies for pre-Thanksgiving luncheon for seniors, $600;
• The Salvation Army of Lincoln County, Lincoln City: food to support mobile pantry’s once weekly distribution in north Lincoln County, $2,000;
• East Lincoln County Emergency Responders, Toledo: instructors and medical supplies for emergency medical responder course open to volunteers of any Lincoln County fire district, $5,000;
• Pacific Shores Homeowners Association, South Beach: train eight residents in first aid/CPR as part of emergency preparedness plan, $500.
