NEWPORT — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is again hosting “Shred Day” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 29, in the parking lot of the Lincoln County Courthouse, 225 W. Olive St.
The event is free of charge and designed to help reduce the risk of identity theft and financial fraud. People can bring their personal paper documents or media containing sensitive information such as files, canceled checks, CDs, or DVDs, medical records or bills and have them shredded on site by iSecure personnel.
There’s no limit on how much people can bring, the sheriff’s office said, but once the iSecure truck is full, no additional materials can be accepted.
The opportunity is intended for personal use, not large quantities from businesses or government offices, the sheriff’s office said. Call 541-265-4912 if there are questions about the event.
