YACHATS – You’re going to have to be quick on your feet this month to use the new city library on West Seventh Street which is closing and re-opening a handful of times to set up new bookshelves and move books from storage.
The planned schedule, according to administrator Traci Altson, is:
- Closed Monday through Friday, Feb. 2-6 for book case installation;
- Open Feb. 7, 9 and 10;
- Closed Feb. 11 for delivery of furniture and books from storage in Waldport, and closed Feb. 12-13 for stocking the shelves;
- Closed Feb. 14-16 for Presidents Day weekend;
- Possibly closed Feb. 17-18 if needed to finish shelving books, and finally
- Reopening Feb. 19.
The library re-opened at its “home” location in early January after construction of the $1.35 million building was completed. The original structure was town down to make way for a new, 3,600-square-foot facility.
The city is planning a grand opening celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
