Police have taken a 15-year-old Keizer boy into custody on accusations he made a mass shooting threat that shut down a Lincoln City concert in September.
Lincoln City police got a call Sept. 13 from someone threatening to shoot up a Lincoln City Cultural Center concert by a local musician Pat Magada. The concert was cut short when police responded, first checking the outside of the center before evacuating 100 attendees in small groups.
After further investigation, police determined there was no danger.
On Monday, Lincoln City police announced they had taken a 15-year-old boy into custody, accused him with disorderly conduct and taken to the Marion County juvenile department, according to a police press release. Police said their investigation is ongoing and that the boy’s motive is unclear.
The concert was rescheduled in October and Magada and other artists played again at the Cultural Center to “finish what they started”.
“Our community is far too strong to allow our voices to be silenced,” Magada said in a Facebook post. “Art and music are more important now than ever.”
