The Lincoln County School District is looking for a new board member to represent the north end of the county.
The four remaining school board members accepted Mitch Parson’s resignation during their Monday retreat and work session.
“At this time, I am unable to commit the time and energy necessary to serve our community to the standard it deserves,” his letter read. “It has been an honor to work alongside dedicated colleagues in support of our students, staff, and families.”
Parsons was appointed by the board in January 2025 to serve the remainder of Megan Cawley’s term. In May, he successfully ran for the 2-year unexpired term.
Interested applicants must be residents of Zone 1, which consists of Lincoln County voting precincts in Delake, Oceanlake, Sunset West, Sunset East and Rose Lodge, be a registered voter in the county, not a school district employee and participate in the interview and selection process. The application is posted on the district’s website.
Applicants have until Sept. 15 to apply. A new board member will be chosen and sworn in Oct. 13.
