PACIFIC CITY — The annual Dory Days parade will top the list of fun returning to Pacific City for the Dory Days Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 14-15.

The festival features a range of activities including a fish fry, traditional dory boat display and a live music performance from the high energy, country rock-based band, Countryfied.

The parade has become a beloved tradition for locals and visitors, showcasing the unique heritage of the dory boats and the fishing community that calls Pacific City home.

It will kick off at 11 a.m. and wind its way through the heart of the town, starting at the Tillamook County boat landing on Sunset Drive and ending at the Oar House. Spectators can expect to see a variety of floats, and of course, dory boats decorated in a myriad of creative ways.

This year’s festival theme is “Legends of the Deep,” which should bring legendary tales to the parade like the Kraken, the Lost City of Atlantis and mermaids, to name a few.

“We are so excited to be a part of this legendary heritage tradition and we cannot wait to see our Dory Legends of the Deep,” said Kimberly Miller, chair of the parade committee. “It’s such a fun, exhilarating event and day of celebration. We hope to see even more parade entries this year.”

Countryfied will rock the stage at the Kiwanda Community Center on Friday evening, beginning at 7 o’clock. Known for their electrifying performances and unique sound, Countryfied has been entertaining audiences of all sizes and ages for more than twenty years

A new state-of-the-art sound system at the center will help ensure an immersive experience for concert-goers, allowing them to fully appreciate the band’s dynamic and energetic performance.

“We are thrilled to have Countryfied back on our stage,” said Kiwanda Community Center board member Jeanette Hagerty. “Their music resonates with people from all generations, and we believe that their performance will bring our community together to start off a fantastic Dory Days weekend.”

Tickets for the concert are $10, and entry is free for kids under the age of 10. There will be food and beverages available for purchase.

On Saturday from noon until 6 p.m., enjoy fresh dory-caught fish at the Dory Days Fish Fry at the community center. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for kids. Chef Ben Johnson from the Sportsman Pub and Grub will oversee the fry, while the children’s area on the south side of the center will have face painting, temporary tattoos and activities for the little ones until 4 p.m.

In the Faye Jensen Hall you’ll find the “Launching through the Surf: The Dory Fleet of Pacific City” historical exhibit from Linfield University.

Both days of the event will provide ample shopping opportunities at the local artisan craft fair, with one-of-a-kind creations from stunning jewelry to exquisite pottery and intricate woodwork to beautiful textiles. The fair will be located at the future Doryman’s Museum site at 34670 Brooten Road, from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
