Oregon State University is getting $5.5 million from the federal government to support its Pacific Marine Energy Center operations in Corvallis.
The $5.5 million award will be issued through the U.S. Department of Energy’s water power technologies office. The funding will assist the Pacific Marine Energy Center, a university consortium with OSU, the University of Washington, and University of Alaska-Fairbanks, establish marine energy strategy, development and implementation.
The award is part of the $14.7 million overall to the consortium will also support advancement of the marine energy industry, and fund improvements to infrastructure and test facilities.
“The funds will allow the center to develop new stakeholder-focused educational material, advance scientific knowledge, and develop new capabilities in our laboratories and field stations,” said Bryson Robertson, director of OSU’s marine energy center.
