Narrative Summary
On 3/8/21 at approximately 6:07 pm I was dispatched to the report of a male walking in the southbound lane of US 101 near mile post 151. While en route to the location another report was received, this time of a vehicle stopped in the southbound lane near mile post 152 and two males inside the vehicle involved in an altercation. Police arrived on scene and found the suspect entering the vehicle from the driver’s door and actively assaulting the driver. The suspect was immediately detained and arrested. The driver was treated for injuries at the scene and later transported by a friend to Pacific Communities Hospital. The suspect was lodged in Lincoln County Jail on charges of Assault IV, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Disorderly Conduct II.

Narrative Summary
On 3/9/21 at approximately 10:45 pm I conducted a traffic stop with a silver Nissan Pathfinder (598CZM) on US 101 near mile post 140 after observing the vehicle driving recklessly northbound through Newport. I contacted and identified the female juvenile driver and observed she was visibly intoxicated. She consented to and performed poorly on SFST’s. She was taken into custody and transported to the intoxilyzer room at the Lincoln County Jail where she consented to a breath test rendering a result of .14% BAC. The juvenile was cited for DUII – Alcohol and Reckless Driving released to her parents. The vehicle was impounded.

Narrative Summary
On 3/10/21 at approximately 3:42AM a southbound PT Cruiser left the roadway at milepost 133 of US Highway 101 and crashed through a highway sign before colliding with a tree on the southbound shoulder. Male driver and a male passenger fled the scene and were located further south by Newport Fire personnel. The driver told me initially he wasn’t driving, then told me he was driving from Philomath to Eugene. Driver showed signs of impairment and was transported to the hospital by Pac West Ambulance. Driver fled the hospital prior to my arrival. Passenger took a backpack and fled into the trees upon my arrival. Passenger exited the tree line sometime later and was transported from the scene by his father. Newport PD assisted me with a search of the area where the passenger was seen. Rowley’s Towing removed the vehicle.
