On 6/24/22 the driver of a 2001 Toyota CRT (UNIT1) was traveling south on US-101 when at around milepost 161, lost control of their vehicle after contacting a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder (UNIT2). Unit1 traveled into the southbound shoulder where it lost control and rolled over several times before coming to an uncontrolled rest. The driver injured and discovered in the brush by pedestrians. The driver showed signs of impairment and was transported to the Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital where they were arrested for DUII. The driver consented to a blood draw and a sample was collected. The driver was cited for DUII – Alcohol, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering another Person and released to the hospital’s care.
