eCrash – Unit 2 white Volvo driver was backing into a parallel parking space located on the northbound shoulder near milepost 164 of US Highway 101. Unit 1 gray Nissan collided with front left wheel and bumper of unit 2. Unit 1 continued over a sidewalk and punctured both right side tires before coming to a controlled stop. No injuries reported. Nissan was towed by Waldport Tire and Volvo owners arranged for their own tow.

Narrative Summary
The Oregon State Police received a 911 driving complaint about a suspected impaired driver who was driving all over the road. The vehicle was stopped for the poor driving. The driver displayed signs of impairment and consented to voluntary field sobriety tests. The driver continued to show signs of impairment and was arrested for DUII. The driver was transported to the Lincoln City Police Department where he provided a breath sample almost 2.5 hours after the initial complaint. The breath test results were a 0.06% BAC. The driver was cited in lieu of custody.

The Oregon State Police was contacted by a subject who stated he located wallet laying in the parking lot of the Yachats State Park. The wallet contained currency, ID’s and other cards. A phone number for the ID was located and a message was left on the voicemail. The wallet was placed into safekeeping at the Oregon State Police Newport Patrol Office.

Narrative Summary
On 1/2/21 at approximately 9:55 pm near mile post 6 on US 20 I stopped a gray Nissan sedan (816LJF) on a routine traffic stop. Upon contact the driver admitted he was suspended and he was the subject of an outstanding warrant issued by Marion County Circuit Court. I confirmed the warrant (CR2068640) which was issued for Fail to Appear on the original crime of Possession of Heroin. Upon second I contact I observed the driver was concealing a container between his left leg and the driver’s door. The driver consented to a search of this container and I located a user’s quantity of heroin and other drug paraphernalia. Lincoln County Jail was contacted but declined to lodge the suspect in jail due to COVID-19 restrictions. The driver was cited and released for the Marion County warrant and cited and released for an additional heroin possession charge in Lincoln County. The drugs were seized as evidence.
