Narrative Summary
On 08/25/21 at approximately 8:58 AM, Oregon State Police assisted Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Newport Police Department with the location and detainment of a hit and run driver. The driver/suspect was reported to have driven into the side of a local business twice before running into the business and then fleeing the area northbound on US-101. Oregon State Police observed the vehicle (black Chevy Tahoe) in Depoe Bay. Upon initiation of a traffic stop, the driver/suspect exited the Tahoe and ran on foot northbound, attempting to gain entrance into a parked travel trailer, before being detained. The driver/suspect was eventually transported back to Newport by LCSO, cited and released for hit and run (property damage), and taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for evaluation. The Tahoe was secured on scene.
