Oregon Coast Community College has named a member of its nursing faculty, Pierce Moon, as its new dean of Nursing & Allied Health. He succeeds Crystal Bowman, who left recently to become dean of nursing at Arizona College of Nursing in Phoenix.

In announcing his hire, the college said Moon steps into the job at a pivotal moment for its nursing and allied health programs. This fall, the college will launch its first bachelor’s degree in through a consortium of Oregon community colleges.
A member of OCCC’s nursing faculty, Moon brings both academic and clinical leadership experience to the position, the college said. Prior to joining the college, Moon worked in a variety of nursing roles, including as at Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland. He has also mentored and trained new nurses, coordinated patient care teams, and provided nursing leadership in both hospital and community-based settings.
Moon has a master’s degree in nursing leadership in healthcare systems, a bachelor’s in nursing, and an associate degree of nursing.
“I am honored to serve as dean of Nursing & Allied Health at such an exciting time for Oregon Coast Community College,” Moon said in a statement released by the college. “OCCC has built a nursing program known for student success, strong community partnerships, and a commitment to meeting the healthcare workforce needs of Oregon’s rural, coastal communities.”
