The third in a series of “No Kings” rallies will take place in at least three Lincoln County cities Saturday afternoon to protest actions of the Trump administration.
The rallies are being organized by Indivisible groups in Newport, Lincoln City and Yachats.
The rallies from noon to 2 p.m. will be along U.S. Highway 101 in front of Newport city hall and in Yachats in front of the Commons.
The protest in Lincoln City is from 1-3 p.m. along Highway 101 near Northwest 25th Street. The Lincoln City protest follows a program of music and speakers from noon to 1 p.m. called “We Still Don’t Do Kings” at the Congregational Church of Lincoln City.
Previous “No Kings rallies were June 15 and Oct. 18.
“No Kings began last June as a single nationwide day of defiance,” the Lincoln City chapter of Indivisible said in a news release. “Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds, a sustained showing of resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers, across every community — and even across the globe — anywhere people are determined to speak out in defense of democracy.”

Is this protest against Senators Chuck Schumer, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley for holding up the Homeland Security vote to provide TSA funding at airports? They are all acting like Kings.
The Democrats have proposed legislation to fund TSA immediately, separate from ICE. The Republicans have rejected the offer at least twice.
Fortunately we haven’t had a king since 1776. We have a president duly elected by the people of the United States.
The Democrats have sponsored separate bills to fund TSA this entire time, with stipulations that I.C.E. officers 1) remove masks; 2) Have identifying logos re: what agency they are with (I.C.E., CBP, etc) and last name on uniforns (like all other poluce members wear). Each time the Republicans have voted it down. Now the president has ordered Republicans not to vote for anything until SAVE is approved, which even Sen Thune has said won’t happen because there sren’t enough votes even among GOP. This is on the president’s head & his party, not Schumer, Merkley, or Wyden. Read the Congressional Record if you want to see what is really happening.
Never will I take the bait that democracy is on its death bed as Democrats are insisting and obsessively pushing.
Biden was freely elected by the vote of the American people. The American people in November of 2024 freely voted for someone else. The same will happen in 2028. ID may be required but I have to show that to receive a passport, are our US elections not of far more importance than a passport? I can freely walk out my door and support or protest whomever I please, that has not and will not be taken away. Policies and changes made by previous presidents I did not always agree with but others did, that is my right and that is part of a democracy. I can try and change things by peacefully voicing my opinion with like minded people on the streets or elsewhere, that is a democracy and is not a country being ruled by an oppressive “king” or dictator. I wake up knowing I am free, and that is a democracy.
Thank you Joyce. It is just another way to divide us. Instead of evaluating people for who they are – all this inflammatory language is used to manipulate people.
We are in the area this weekend looking at homes to buy and will be there tomorrow in protest of this administration and their rampant disregard for the Constitution, due process and taking America to war without proper authority. Gas prices in Oregon – over $5 a gallon. We are shocked.
Why do you have to block off the Hwy in front of Lincoln City Grocery Outlet. There are so many other places in town you could hold this protest. Instead you choose to hurt a local business on a Saturday during spring break.
