The Lincoln County School District has announced new principals to lead Waldport Middle/High School and Oceanlake Elementary School in Lincoln City.
The appointments come after longtime Waldport principal Amy Skirvin is leaving to become superintendent of North Lake School District in Silver Lake, Ore. and after cuts to assistant principal positions were made to balance the district’s budget deficit.

Sarah Kennedy will be the new Waldport Middle/High School, the district announced Friday. Kennedy has been the superintendent for the charter school Innovation Spokane Schools. She has over 20 years of experience in education and has served as a teacher, instructional coach, principal, and superintendent.
“I believe that strong relationships are the foundation of a great school,” Kennedy said in a statement from the district. “I am incredibly excited to join the Waldport community and look forward to partnering with students, families, staff, and community members to help every student thrive.”
Ashley Freschi will serve as the principal for Oceanlake Elementary School. Freschi has worked for LCSD for 10 years and most recently as assistant principal at Oceanlake.
Norma Thompson has been named assistant principal at Taft 7-12. Thompson has been a teacher at the district since 2022.
Jennifer Fortmeyer will move into the Taft Elementary assistant principal position. She currently is a special education teacher at Waldport Middle/High School and has worked for the district for 10 years.
