NEWPORT – Ever want to have your child try acting – on the stage? You’ll have a chance this fall at the Newport Performing Arts Center.
The new “PAC Players” 10-week after-school theater program is offered after school on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. beginning Sept. 20.
Students in third through fifth grades are invited to unleash their creativity, ignite their imagination and discover the stage in the new program led by seasoned theater educators.
Participants will explore character development, movement, script analysis, improvisation, scene work, vocal work, costumes, sets, lights, sound and more. They’ll also play games, build friendships and perform in a finale showcase for their family and friends.
The weekly, two-hour long workshop series will be led by Nathan Bush and Stacy Fischer. Bush has worked as a professional actor in theater, television and film, and is a former adjunct instructor at both Spalding University and Oregon State University. He currently teaches drama in the Lincoln County School District.
Fischer grew up in Newport and fell in love with the performing arts at an early age. She studied English and Theatre Education at Western Oregon University and taught middle school Language Arts and Drama for more than 30 years.
