A Molalla man who killed his mother in Siletz in 2024 was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday after agreeing to plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
Robert B. Poe, 58, was sentenced by Lincoln County Circuit Judge Sheryl Bachart. Poe was originally charged with second-degree murder.
Poe killed his mother, Judy Poe, 79, on March 12, 2024, at her home on East Logsden Road in Siletz. He told Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies at the time that he believed his mom was a vampire who would poke him at night and cause him to wake up covered in blood. She was killed with a large, round stake, deputies said.
While awaiting trial, Poe was sent to the Oregon State Hospital for evaluation. The results of that evaluation are sealed from public view in Lincoln County court records.
Poe has a lengthy criminal record dating to 1991 involving drunken driving, theft, harassment, and drug possession charges in Lincoln, Lane and Douglas counties. Court documents indicated Poe lived in Molalla.

Judy Poe was my friend, church going, and loved her son who took her life. He got off easy.
