WALDPORT – A 37-year-old Waldport man suspected of raising havoc and damaging property all over downtown is in the Lincoln County jail on eight charges ranging from arson, to criminal mischief to offensive littering.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Isaac J. Jack on Monday. He is homeless and had apparently been living in the community garden or occasionally staying with his mother or friends.
He was arraigned Tuesday afternoon, ordered held on $250,000 bail and given May 5 as his next court date.
According to a district attorney’s information filed in Lincoln County circuit court, all of the charges result from incidents April 8-9. They include setting a fire that damaged the city’s public restroom along U.S. Highway 101 on the south edge of downtown, threatening employees at city hall, burning pallets that night in the city hall parking lot, and painting graffiti at city hall, Ray’s market and the Flounder Inn.
The fires involved using gasoline to set them, according to a probable cause affidavit by sheriff’s Deputy Adrian Reagan.
