The Lincoln County Democratic party has elected a slate of four new officers to serve two-year terms.
New officers are Mary Infante as chair, Kelly Greer as vice chair, Christine Berg as secretary and Marta West as treasurer.
The two-year terms will involve providing leadership to the Lincoln County Democratic Party, communicating with elected officials, promoting voter registration, supporting registered Democratic candidates, and helping to recruit candidates for local offices, according to a news release.
“In the near term, the organization will also advocate for Lincoln County residents who have been impacted by the cuts in federal spending and mass layoffs and assist grass-roots groups in organizing rallies and other events protesting the policies and actions taken by the current administration,” the release said.
Infante is a long-time Democratic activist who moved to Depoe Bay from Texas last year, where she was executive director of the Denton County Democratic Party from 2009 to 2017.
The Lincoln County Democratic Party holds monthly meetings rotating among northern, central, southern and eastern centers of the county with zoom options available for virtual attendance and participation. Its next meeting is 5:30 p.m. April 23 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Coast Hwy, Newport.
