The Lincoln County School District on Friday announced final administrative changes to school leadership positions for 2026-27.
The district balanced a $5 million shortfall in its 2026-27 budget mostly due to declining enrollment by eliminating assistant principal positions at Crestview Heights, Oceanlake Elementary, Sam Case Elementary and Taft 7-12. Some assistant principals who wanted to continue working in the district were moved to different schools, other staff resigned or retired resulting in a restructuring of building leaders.
Peter Ellingsen will be stepping into the role of principal at Toledo Jr/Sr High School. Ellingsen was the Newport Middle School assistant principal and was initially going to work at Newport High School, according to a previous school district announcement.
Kirsten Buckmaster will be joining the leadership team at Newport High as assistant principal, filling the current vacancy. Buckmaster had been an assistant principal at Sam Case Elementary.
