DEPOE BAY – The Lincoln County Republican Central Committee is hosting a joint appearance Saturday for the two candidates seeking a seat on the Lincoln County commission.
Claire Hall is seeking her sixth term on the commission but was forced into a November runoff with Depoe Bay city councilor Rick Beasley after a five-way race in the May primary.
The forum will take place 2-3:30 p.m. at the Depoe Bay Community Hall, located at the harbor entrance on Bay Street.
Both candidates submitted six questions to a debate committee, with three from each being selected. Moderator Bill Klein will ask those six questions and six more developed by the GOP committee followed by two-minute answers.
“We offered to host this debate, as it looked like one was not going to be scheduled,” said Joan Crall of Waldport. “We have committed to holding the debate in a non-partisan fashion, which we are happy to do. It will be a level playing field.”
The League of Women Voters of Lincoln County and Oregon Coast Community College will host a candidate forum Oct. 10 at the college’s Newport campus.
