YACHATS — Spring is blooming on the central Oregon coast, bringing with it three traditional events in Yachats for locals and visitors alike.
The first weekend of Oregon’s spring break for schools — Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23 — book lovers can browse bargains at the Friends of Yachats Library Book Sale. That same weekend, the Yachats Chamber of Commerce stages an arts and crafts fair.
A week later, March 29-30, the Yachats Ladies Club offers its Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale.

The Friends of Yachats Library spring sale is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, in the basement of the Yachats Commons.
The sale will feature over 6,000 used books, ranging from mysteries and cookbooks to biographies, romances, travel, history and arts and crafts. Fiction and nonfiction works will be priced at $2; children’s books $1.
In addition, jigsaw puzzles will be offered at $5. Special works — signed copies, book sets and coffee table books — will be on sale for $10 and up.
Cash is appreciated; credit cards are welcome. Shoppers are urged to bring their own shopping bags to hold their bargains; cloth bags are no longer for sale.
Proceeds will support the Yachats Public Library’s new building, under construction on West Seventh Street. The old library on the site was demolished this month, and a larger building will be constructed by the end of the year.
Friends of Yachats Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. For more details, visit its website.
That same weekend, on the main floor of the Commons, the Yachats Chamber of Commerce is staging its traditional arts and crafts fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
About 40 vendors will be showcasing their wares, in categories including art, handcrafted jewelry, leatherwork, homemade soaps, woodwork and more. The fair is the 53rd annual, and sponsorship by the Yachats Chamber of Commerce means free admission for all. For more information, visit the chamber’s website.

On Sunday, the Yachats Lions Club is again offering its all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and ham, juice, coffee, tea and milk from 7:30-11 a.m. at its hall on West Fourth Street. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person for its college scholarship and community grants.

Bazaar & bake sale
Another spring tradition, the Yachats Ladies Club Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale will fill the group’s clubhouse at 286 W. Third St. with a wealth of handmade items and tasty treats on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30.
During those days shoppers can browse tables of goods and goodies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade baked goods, including a variety of popular mini-pies, will be offered, along with crochet and knitted home and personal items, homemade soaps, pet items, jewelry and more.
Also available will be tickets for the club’s 2025 Scholarship Quilt Raffle, the proceeds of which go to the club’s Oregon Coast Community College Scholarship Fund.
Most of the proceeds from the club’s bazaars, which take place throughout the year, benefit local nonprofits, including other local service organizations, food banks and the county animal shelter. For more information, visit the club’s website.
