LINCOLN CITY — Three people were arrested Saturday night after reports of an assault in Lincoln County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Shortly before 9 p.m., officers responded to the Van Duzer rest area on Highway 18, after reports of people being chased by a suspect armed with a machete.
When police arrived, the suspect car had already left the area. With the help from local law enforcement, police said they found and arrested the driver and two passengers.
The driver, identified as Mathia J. Moses, 30, of Otis, was charged with drivcing under the influence and multiple charges involving assault, unlawful use of a weapon, bias crime, recklessly endangering others, harassment and menacing.
One of Moses’ passengers was identified as Sean Aaron-Paul Halderman, 37, of Corvallis, who was charged with multiple counts of harassment and menacing. The other passenger was Shanna Ann Marie Cox, 29, of Lincoln City, who also faces harassment and menacing charges.
While officers investigated the incident, police said Northeast 22nd Street near Northeast Quay Avenue in Lincoln City was closed Saturday night.
