It’s official — tickets are on sale for the Yachats Celtic Music Festival Nov. 12-14.
Offering three days of live music, dancing, food, crafts and workshops, the festival hasn’t yet cemented its schedule, which will be available soon on its website. Still, tickets for all three days of the event are available — for $30 to $75 — at the Brown Paper Tickets website.
On hold for months due to the pandemic, the festival lost a few Irish and Scottish bands to COVID-related travel issues. However, festival music director Stephen Farish of Waldport predicted that this year’s festival “will certainly rival any of the other Celtic fests we’ve had in the past four or five years.”
Cancelled last year — it would have been the 20th annual event — by the coronavirus pandemic, the festival has been a key attraction of the fall cultural/tourism season in Yachats
The notable performers booked for the November event are:
Altan: An Irish combo that’s been called “the hottest group in the Celtic realm these days” by the Boston Globe. The award-winning group plays traditional Irish music, from touching old tunes to hard-hitting reels and jigs. Altan will be the headliner performers both Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.
Dan Houghton Trio: Led by a world-class Scottish bagpiper, this trio’s sound is deeply rooted in traditional Scottish and Irish music.
Kalos: Featuring the youngest musician ever to win the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle championship, this trio of musicians has been hailed as “masterful.”
Katie McNally Trio: “Exhilarating … electrifying” music comes from Boston-bred McNally, joined by masters of the bagpipes, whistle and guitar.
Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter: A multi-instrumentalist duo from San Francisco, featuring Celtic harp and violin. Both have ties to the Windham Hill label.
The Winifred Horan Quartet: Horan is known as co-founder of the Irish supergroup Solas and will be joined by three musicians on piano, guitar and accordion.
