YACHATS – A conflict with a city community meeting is turning in favor of the Yachats Big Band.
Normally the band performs in the Yachats Commons the first Thursday of each month. That would have been Thursday, April 2. But the city scheduled the first of two community meetings that night on proposed housing code changes.
So the Yachats Big Band is performing Wednesday, April 1 – that’s April Fool’s Day, for those not paying attention to the calendar.
“Watch out for pranks,” the band said announcing the change.
The 18-member ensemble plays swing music mostly from the 1930s through the 1950s – and dancers have been showing up the past year to get people out on the multipurpose room’s floor.
The cost is $10 for singles or $15 for couples. Coffee and light refreshments are available.
