Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County is offering home repairs for low-income households to address needs ranging from upgrading heating systems to making showers accessible.
The nonprofit’s mission is to house people with low incomes and to keep people with low incomes in their homes, said executive director Lucinda Taylor. There are people in Lincoln County who bought their homes when they were less expensive and now they are on fixed incomes, she said.
Over the past two years the program has helped 11 households with repairs.
Funding for the program comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the state, the cities of Newport and Lincoln City, Pacific Power and individual donations.
Habitat is also working with Energy Trust of Oregon to provide incentive-based energy upgrades such as ducted/ductless heat pumps, high efficiency gas furnaces, insulation, and heat pump water heaters. To qualify for a free home energy assessment, participants must be residents of Lincoln County and must be customers of Pacific Power or Northwest Natural Gas.
Interested individuals can reach out to Habitat’s energy efficiency coordinator at [email protected] or call 458-277-7604 to learn more about the program and application process.
