Lincoln County residents and property owners can recycle mattresses and box springs for free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Dahl Disposal facilities in Waldport and Toledo thanks to an Oregon state law and the Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress program.
The events is for mattresses and box springs in any type of construction or condition. Air mattresses, crib mattresses, and other bedding-related products and furniture are not eligible for recycling.
The mattresses or box springs can be dropped off at Dahl Disposal’s main office, 380 N.W. First St, Toledo, not the company’s transfer station on U.S. Highway 20.
Mattresses can also be dropped off at Dahl’s transfer station in Waldport.
The events are sponsored by the Mattress Recycling Council, a nonprofit organization that operates recycling programs in Oregon and other states that have passed mattress recycling laws. The council was founded by the bedding industry and recycles nearly 2 million mattresses each year.
