To the editor:
I am writing to express my full support for Lincoln County Commissioner Claire Hall and to voice my strong opposition to the ongoing recall effort against her.
For over two decades, Claire Hall has served our community with unwavering dedication and a deep commitment to the issues that matter most to Lincoln County residents. She has been a tireless advocate for housing stability, mental health services, and support for our most vulnerable populations.
Her leadership on both the local and state levels, including her role as chair of the Oregon Housing Stability Council, is a testament to her expertise and her ability to get things done.
The current recall effort is a costly and disruptive distraction from the serious challenges facing our county. The petitioners’ claims center on her efforts to maintain order and decorum in public meetings. However, anyone who has followed the recent commission meetings knows that these sessions have been used as a platform for personal attacks and grievances against county staff.
Commissioner Hall’s actions to ensure a respectful and productive environment are not “misconduct,” but rather a demonstration of responsible leadership.
This recall would not only waste taxpayer money — estimated to cost the county up to $50,000 — but it would also create unnecessary chaos and instability. Lincoln County deserves a government focused on solutions, not on internal disputes.
I urge my fellow community members to reject this recall effort. We need to stand with Commissioner Claire Hall, whose long record of service and commitment to the greater good of Lincoln County far outweighs these politically motivated attacks.
Let’s allow our elected leaders to do the job we chose them to do and focus on the real work ahead.

Thank you for putting the truth out there.
Wouldn’t allowing all elected officials do their job be great Greg? How about Commissioner Miller? Or District Attorney Jenna Wallace? How about letting them? Or are we restricted to just one doing all that? Have you been reading, watching and following the information, the facts, being laid out before your eyes? Or is this about personal relationships and long ago forged friendships? We demand better. And we will get it. Recall Hall
This is “you scratch my back I will scratch yours” from a former Waldport mayor. If he was actually paying attention would see that Claire Hall has negated 13,800+ voter’s wishes by excluding Casey Miller from daily governance, that Claire Hall is providing no oversight to county finances from 2021 through 2023 (Check out the 2023 audit on the Lincoln County website) where the last 6 pages of the 143-page report states all balances had to be restated as the county even reported cash in the bank incorrectly. The ongoing disaster of constant firings and interference in the district attorney’s office would also come to light if the former mayor cared to pay attention. The power grab by Claire Hall supposedly taking over all administrative functions temporarily needs to end with her recall.
