The former director of Oregon Coast Community College’s aquarium science program was sentenced Tuesday to 6½ years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of encouraging child sex abuse.
Under a plea agreement, six other counts against Larry C. Boles, 55, were dismissed by Lincoln County Circuit Judge Sheryl Bachart.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the Oregon Department of Justice arrested Boles last November at his apartment in Toledo after an 11-month investigation. The charges involved downloading videos of child pornography and infant rape and bestiality involving children, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in circuit court.
The college put Boles on administrative leave last fall and he resigned from his position a month before his arrest. He had worked at the college since 2018.
Boles had been out of custody on $25,000 bond since his arrest and most recently working in Portland and undergoing therapy, according to a court memorandum by his lawyer.
