FLORENCE – A 37-year-old Eugene man was killed Thursday afternoon when his truck and a semi-truck collided on Oregon Highway 126 six miles east of Florence.
Oregon State Police said Mathew J. Decker was headed east in his pickup truck about 2:23 p.m. Thursday when it collided head-on “for an unknown reason” with a westbound semi-truck driven by Joseph J. Botelho, 64, of Veneta.
Police said Decker died at the scene; Botelho only had minor injuries. Traffic was impacted for approximately five hours during the investigation, police said.
