Lincoln County commissioners easily passed a resolution during an emergency meeting Thursday to unclog the courthouse’s failed sewer pipe.
A sewer line connected to eight courthouse bathrooms and every sink in the building failed, assistant county counsel Brian Gardner said during the quickly called 4 p.m. meeting.
County officials shut off the water, rendering most of the building’s facilities unusable. The Fourth of July holiday also may have put a wrench into the situation, making it more difficult to find available plumbers, staff told commissioners.
Commissioners Casey Miller and Walter Chuck agreed to streamline the process of getting a contractor by ruling out some of the usual competitive bidding requirements to get a plumber on the job as soon as possible.
The courthouse was already scheduled to be closed Friday in observance of the holiday which falls on Saturday.

Wow. I had to go back and read that twice, Chuck and Miller agreed on something. That had to of been a first.
Wow. This proves that they actually can get something done. Amazing.
