Big crowds make Agate Festival a success
Visitors to the Yachats Agate Festival look at exhibitor displays Sunday at the Yachats Commons. Organizers said crowds on Saturday and Sunday were the largest in the eight years of the event, which filled the Commons’ multipurpose room, hallways and adjacent classrooms. “It’s just been fantastic,” said Mary Crook, a member of the festival organizing committee. Little Log Church in 1927 – or was it 1929 or 1930?
The Rev. Rolla Phelps and his wife, Stella, sit on the steps of the Little Log Church in Yachats. Eugene performer charms kids at Yachats Library
Guitarist and children’s performer Michael Bradley of Eugene had pre-schoolers from the Yachats Youth & Family Activities Program on their feet Friday morning during a performance at the Yachats Library. The library offers story times to the pre-school twice a month on Thursday mornings for the youngest children and Friday mornings for the older pre-school group, said librarian Janet Rackleff.
Volunteers help scientists study marine debris
The Cape Perpetua Collaborative organizes the monthly citizen-science project to help establish a baseline of marine debris along the Oregon coast. The next survey is Jan. 12 at Cape Perpetua.
