YACHATS — Yachats resident David Rivinus will be among a quartet of Oregonians authors who will be signing books from 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20-21 at the Toad Hall gift shop, 237 W. Third St.
“This book signing is a celebration of these local authors who represent different genres and is an opportunity to meet and chat with them at a casual venue,” said Toad Hall owner Valeria Tutrinoli.
Rivinus is the author of “Always Dreaming – Gaining Insights from the Metaphors of our Sleeping and Waking Lives,” which springs from time he spent working as a teacher of special needs patients in eastern Indiana. He was exposed to Gestalt therapy and the idea of “waking dreams,” and later ran dream seminars in Portland. Rivinus is chair of the Yachats Library Commission.
He will be joined in the event by two other Oregon writers and a photographer:
- Nancy Rhodes of Florence, signing “Blue Song.” A passion and concern for whales informs this debut novel of a woman on a quest for justice and the whale poachers who have her in their sights. A writer for most of her life, Rhodes moved to the central Oregon coast in 2013, and is a member of the American Cetacean Society;
- Rachel King of Portland, signing “People Along the Sand.” King explores personal stories centered on the passing of the Oregon Beach Bill, in her debut novel published in time for the 55th anniversary of the historic legislation. The 1967 legislation established public access to Oregon’s beaches;
- Bill Posner of Newport, signing several photo books showcasing the Oregon coast. He will have 11 books on hand focusing on Oregon’s coastal forest, shore scapes, birds and other volumes, including “Walking Newport.” In the fall, Posner plans to release “Walking Yachats” and “Walking Waldport.”
