A Lincoln County grand jury has indicted a Klamath Falls man three charges stemming from his arrest for assaulting an anti-Trump protestor in early June.

Newport police arrested Jacob Busch, 41, on June 7 after investigating a shoving incident in front of the Newport City Hall during a political protest.

Video of the incident showed Busch jumping out of his truck, running over to the protesters and then pushing a 74-year-old man to the ground, according to the Lincoln County district attorney’s office. The man struck the back of his head against the concrete sidewalk and taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for treatment.

Busch was arrested later that day in Waldport for fourth-degree assault.

The district attorney’s office said Monday that because of the protestor’s injuries and Busch’s criminal history, it took the case to a grand jury for additional charges. On July 1, Busch was indicted for second-degree assault, fourth degree assault and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Busch was released from the Lincoln County jail on July 3 and arraigned Monday. His next court appearance is Aug. 25.
