Yachats received 4.09 inches of rain in March, the third-lowest rainfall amount for the month in the past 11 years and less than half the usual monthly average.
But the total rainfall so far in 2020 is 25.90 – just an inch below the three-year average as measured at the city of Yachats’ wastewater treatment plant.
The average rainfall amount in March over the past 11 years is 9.43 inches, according to statistics kept by the city. The highest recorded amount was 20.32 inches in 2012; the lowest was 3.06 in March 2019.
Month-by-month rainfall this year in Yachats was 14.52 inches in January, which was six inches above average, and 7.29 inches in February, which was an inch below average.
