WALDPORT – The food supplies at Waldport Food Share are a bit better after the donation last week of $2,000 by the Waldport Chamber of Commerce.
The donation came from proceeds generated from the chamber’s annual charity golf tournament at Crestview Golf Club in September.
Waldport Food Share director Linda Ballas said the donation was especially helpful because of declining food donations from the Oregon Food Bank and that the organization does “not expect to see the amounts bounce back in the foreseeable future.”
“Because of this, and because of the continuing rise in need in the area, we are purchasing more of the food we give out to the community,” Ballas said. “Our donors in the community are wonderful. In order to ensure we remain solvent, we supplement those donations through grants whenever possible. The donation from the Waldport Chamber’s Golf Tournament will help us ensure no one goes hungry.”
