The group lit candles and heard remarks from Mayor Rod Cross, Lincoln County District Attorney Jenna Wallace and Amber Wischoff, director of My Sister’s Place in Newport.

The gathering was organized by Toledo city councilor Frank Silvia and follows a community vigil Oct. 8 to share grief and support following the shooting death of Tasha Rodriguez-Anderson, a teacher in Toledo and Siletz, in the driveway of her home Oct. 4. Her husband is charged with murder.
“We thought we still needed to do something,” Cross said Tuesday, adding that the city council still passes a resolution and has a remembrance at its meeting each November. “But we want to keep doing this.”
